You should see a gastroenterologist for persistent acidity, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, unexplained weight loss, vomiting, blood in stool, jaundice, abnormal liver reports, or if your doctor recommends endoscopy or colonoscopy.
Upper GI endoscopy is generally well tolerated. It is performed with appropriate sedation or local anaesthetic spray as indicated. Most patients experience only mild throat discomfort afterwards and can resume normal activities as advised.
Colonoscopy preparation usually includes a clear liquid diet and bowel cleansing medication as prescribed. Good preparation is essential for a complete and accurate examination. Detailed instructions will be provided before your appointment.
Hepatology services cover fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis B and C, alcoholic liver disease, elevated liver enzymes, cirrhosis monitoring, and evaluation of jaundice and related complications.
IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) is a functional disorder causing pain, bloating and altered bowel habits without visible inflammation. IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease), including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, involves chronic inflammation and may require specialised medical therapy and endoscopic monitoring.
A referral is helpful but not always mandatory. You can contact the clinic directly to schedule a consultation. Bringing previous reports, prescriptions and imaging studies will help in a more informed first visit.
